This is Dragon Boat Festival in China

The people of Taiwan are always ready, the annual Dragon Boat Festival falls on June 6 this year and celebrated with a weekend of three days.

Driving in the city of Taipei, more than 160 teams, including 7 foreign, will play their muscles as they compete for the title of fastest paddler.

Total prize money for the race, but along the Keelung River from Riverside Park Dajia amounted to NT $ 3,000,000 (U.S. $ 104,447), officials of the Taipei City government.

Other events will be along the river, including concerts, making rice dumpling, competitions and sporting events, authorities said.

Dozens of similar tournaments and other fun activities are planned throughout Taiwan in Chiayi, Hsinchu and Yilan counties and the southern port city of Kaohsiung.

In the southern city of Tainan, a five-day international competition of dragon boat was tossed 158 June 2 teams with 12 of the fierce international competition.

The races are expected to attract over 100,000 visitors to the historic city, according to the Tainan City Government.

The Dragon Boat Festival, also known as Duanwu, celebrated the fifth day of the fifth lunar month, is a national holiday that is celebrated far beyond East Asia.
