Renton, Washington, Tarvaris Jackson is the Seattle Seahawks quarterback Matt Hasselbeck and the following is reportedly looking elsewhere.

A person familiar with the situation told The Associated Press on Tuesday that Jackson has reached an agreement with the Seahawks, and is expected to sign a contract on Friday. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because free agents are authorized to sign contracts until Friday.

The Seattle Times first reported an agreement to Jackson.

Reports surfaced Tuesday afternoon that the Seahawks, Hasselbeck said he was not in their plans. Yahoo Sports for the first time Hasselbeck's decision on Twitter. Hasselbeck and his agent did not return messages left by The Associated Press.

Whitehurst Hasselbeck was supposed to challenge for the job before the 2010 season, but his only two starts last season came in games Hasselbeck was injured. One of those outings was the end of the season by beating Seattle 16-6 St. Louis to complete the NFC West title with a record of 7-9.

Hasselbeck then seemed to affirm its importance to the franchise from Seattle for the NFC leaders in an impressive first-round playoff upset of New Orleans before the Seahawks lost to Chicago in the NFC divisional playoff. After the loss, Carroll said SeahawksUna No. of re-signing priority was Hasselbeck.

But Hasselbeck is back under center when the season begins September 11 in San Francisco.
