Lea Michele will leave Glee at the end of next season. She will see her character Rachel Berry graduated from McKinley High School at the end of the third series, with Chris Colfer, Cory Monteith and others, for now, unnamed cast members.
“We made that decision and I involved Chris and Lea and they thought that was a good idea. They both trust the writing and trust me and felt that it would be great to have an open and closed experience for them to go out while they were on top,” said creator Ryan Murphy.
Cory wasn’t consulted about the decision, but Ryan explained, “He knows he was a sophomore when the show started.”
The writer insists on several characters had to leave because they are supposed to be students of the school, and therefore would graduate and go to college or continue their lives.
"You can keep them in the program for six years and people are criticized for not being realistic, or can be truly faithful to reality and say when the show started they were clearly second-year students and must be passed at the end of his superiors year, "he said.
While the third season will be final Lea, Ryan promised to remain the center of attention.
"I'm much more interested in character read - not so much in his relationship with Finn, but in his dreams beyond high school and how you plan on getting them. That's what my last year was about" he said.
