Apple yesterday urged developers to submit their Lion apps for review  before the OS X upgrade launches, making some wonder whether the  operating system will launch this week as many had expected.
Apple has been silent about a release date for Lion, also known as Mac  OS X 10.7, only said it would ship this month. In the email to the  developers, Apple said the update will be available "soon." 
It is unclear how long it will take Apple to review the new applications that support León for inclusion on the Mac App Store. 
The company normally reserved do not usually talk about the process for  approval of its application store, but at the Worldwide Developers  Conference in June 2010, Steve Jobs said: "Ninety-five percent of all  applications submitted have been approved within seven days. " 
Apple has not revealed a similar statistic for the Mac App Store, launched in January 2011. 
The  announcement late developers to submit applications for review Lion may  mean that Apple will not release the update on Thursday, as several  blogs have reported on Apple. In any case, Apple has historically  preferred to implement its operating systems on Friday. 
For  example, Snow Leopard went on sale Friday, August 28, 2009, while  Leopard went on sale Friday, October 26, 2007. In fact, since 2005,  Tiger, Apple has released updates to the operating system only on a  Friday. 
A wild card in this edition of the game release is that  Apple would only be Leon as a digital download through the Mac App  Store, giving the company greater flexibility when sending the product,  it is not necessary to duplicate the physical , product packaging and  deliver it to brick and mortar stores. 
On July 1, Apple provided  a "golden master" construction of a lion, the label of some developers  use the software that has been completed and, presumably, ready to ship,  and has not planted with another version already.
