Oklahoma Sooners baseball team of the university conducted its second live appearance in the College World Series after losing to Oral Roberts, 7-0, yesterday afternoon.
The Oklahoma Sooners, ranked 14th seed for the region, finished the season with a 41-19 record, but their last two games has destroyed what was built to date. The Sooners fell to Dallas Baptist in extra innings Friday night, but the shutout in the loser's bracket is a tough pill for this team of college baseball to swallow.
Smith Burch left the Oklahoma Sooners, but allowed three runs on three hits and a walk in the first round before leaving Dillon Overton. Overton entered and repeated the performance, also giving three points on three hits and one walk. When John went to Jordan in the third boat through the second, he had finished.
John had a solid game, throwing seven times and only two hits to give the rest of the way, but the Sooners have been demoralized by this point.
"I have," Smith said Burch. "John Jordan did a great job to come and close them for the rest of the game."
The Sooners had only six hits in the game, three by center fielder Chris Ellison. Unfortunately, not every one of his trips to the base paths. Tyler Ogle was a success and the team captain Garrett Buechel was smooth.
"We played like we wanted," said Ellison. "You have to put runs on the board."
Ten seniors played their last game at Oklahoma on Saturday and Monday in MLB Draft June 6 Casey Johnson, Ricky Eisenberg, Blair Elliott, Tyler Brady, Antonio Collazo, Ryan Duke, Ellis Cale, Michael Richards, and old Bobby Tyson Seng banks expect to hear his name called come draft day.
